Dallas Innovates: Digital Training: Dallas Startup Skyllful Keeps Field Workers Up to Date on Essential Tech

During the pandemic, millions of frontline workers are helping to keep the economy moving. Essential workers during this time need to stay up to date with the business processes that are required in their work, but with rapidly changing technology, it can be hard to keep up.

That’s where Skyllful comes in. Skyllful is the provider of a mobile digital adoption platform designed to “help frontline workers use enterprise mobile apps more efficiently and effectively in their delivery of essential products and services,” according to a statement.

Skyllful’s platform teaches frontline workers how to use digital apps on their mobile device, while also delivering ongoing education, role simulation, and real-time support.

Designed for field operation leaders, project managers, IT leaders, and learning and development professionals, Skyllful helps to ensure frontline workers can adapt to new technology quickly and use it effectively.

Using scenario-based simulation, workers can retain the knowledge better while increasing productivity and delivering greater returns. Skyllful’s technology platform includes Skyllful Simulator, an app that provides coaching for frontline workers on their mobile phones, along with Skyllful IQ, an analytics dashboard that allows business leaders to get insights about their employees’ progress.

Founded in 2009 as Vendado Technologies, the company was renamed Skyllful in 2020 to focus on the critical role of workforce adoption of enterprise mobile apps during the pandemic. Skyllful has worked previously with companies such as CBRE Group, CFM Materials, Dairy Farmers of America, Nestle USA, NOV, One Gas, as well as many others.

“Skyllful is governed by the principle that mobile app training should never be a one-time event,” Lake told Dallas Innovates. “Instead of conducting training only during new employee onboarding or when a new app is first deployed, Skyllful believes mobile app simulations should be highly valued as a key and ongoing component of increasing the effectiveness and positive impact of mobile operations.”

Before opening their Plano office, Skyllful was a largely remote team, so they are no stranger to working from home.

However, Lake said that the ongoing pandemic has created greater awareness for how important frontline workers are to the functioning of the economy and how important it is for those workers to have the tools they need to get their job done.

“COVID-19 has amplified many of the problems that our customers have always dealt with when it comes to their frontline workforce. They’ve always faced challenges with ensuring that mobile workers are using their technology the right way. Now, these technology tools are even more important now given the pressures companies are facing.”
