Screen Library Overview
The Screen Library holds every captured screen and Screen Replica in a Learning Program so the same screens can be reused across Lessons, and this article covers the four screen types including read-only legacy XD screens, how to filter and sort the grid, the two ways to convert a screenshot into a Replica, and what happens when a screen is archived.
What is the Screen Library?
The Screen Library is the central store of screens for a Learning Program. Every captured screen and Screen Replica in the program lives here, ready to be reused across Lessons instead of being captured again.
Each screen card shows the screen's name, its dimensions, its type, and how many Lessons use it.
Each Learning Program has its own Screen Library. Screens uploaded to one program are not available in another.
It is one of three asset libraries in Studio, alongside the Image Library and the Video Library.
How do you open the Screen Library?
You can reach it three ways, and the third one matters when you are already mid-task.

What are the four screen types?
The type on each card tells you what the screen is and what you can do with it.

Note: XD screens are legacy. The Adobe XD plugin is no longer active, so no new XD screens can be imported, and an existing XD screen cannot be edited. Existing XD screens keep working in the Lessons that use them. When one needs a change, capture a new screenshot, convert it into a Replica, and replace the screen. XD stays in Filter by Type because it is how you find the XD screens a program already has.
How do you add a screen?

The library accepts HTML captures and PNG or JPEG screenshots. A file in any other format is refused, and so is an empty file.
Note: If a screen with the same name already exists, Skyllful stops and asks. Duplicate Detected offers Skip, Overwrite and Create New, and when you are uploading several files at once a checkbox applies your answer to all of them or to the rest of them. Read the name in the message before you choose, because Overwrite replaces the screen that Lessons are already using.
How do you find a screen?
The filter row and the sort row sit above the grid, and page controls sit below it.

What does Filter by Usage mean?
Every value except All Screens answers the same question: which Lesson versions is this screen attached to? A Lesson has a latest version and, separately, a published version, and those are often not the same one.

Note: Unused Screens and Inactive Versions Only are not the same list, and the difference matters when you are tidying a library. A screen under Unused Screens has never been used by anything. A screen under Inactive Versions Only is part of a Lesson's history, so archiving it changes what an older version of that Lesson contains.
How do you see where a screen is used?
Each card carries usage counts in its bottom corner. Select the counts to expand two lists:

Each entry names the Lesson and links you straight to it.
To find screens that have never been used at all, set Filter by Usage to Unused Screens.
What do the tags on a card mean?

| Processing | The screen is still being processed after upload or conversion. |
| Processing Failed | Processing did not complete, so the screen is not usable yet. |
What can you do with one screen?
Select the menu icon (⋯) on a screen card. The options you see depend on the screen's type, its state, and your permissions, so no single screen shows all of them.

Note: An XD screen cannot be edited, so the editing options do not apply to one.
How do you work with several screens at once?
Click Select at the right of the sort row. The grid switches to selection mode, and Select is replaced by Actions and Cancel.

Each entry in the Actions menu carries a count of the screens it can act on, so Convert (3) means three of your selected screens can be converted. An entry showing (0) has nothing it can act on, which is what you see when the screens you chose are locked.

Convert reaches the same place the Edit option on a single card does: the screen is converted and Replica Maker opens. Use the card menu for one screen and Select for a batch.
What happens to an archived screen?
Archiving takes a screen out of active use. It does not appear in the grid afterwards, and Filter by Usage has no value that brings archived screens back into view.
There is no control in the Screen Library for restoring one. If you need an archived screen back, your Local Administrator should open a support ticket with Skyllful.
How do you reuse a screen in a Lesson?
Most of the time you choose stored screens while you build or edit the Lesson, rather than starting from the library. The Screen Library is where screens are kept, found and prepared.
It is not only a store, though. Work moves in both directions:
- From the library into a Lesson. Create Lesson and Append To Lesson, in the Actions menu described above, both start from screens you select here.
- From a Lesson into the library. A step's screen toolbar in Lesson Builder opens the library so you can replace the screen on that step with one the program already has.
FAQ
What does the usage count on a screen mean? It shows how many Lessons use that screen. Select the count to see the Lessons by name, split into Active Versions and Inactive Versions.
Can I still import Adobe XD screens? No. The plugin that imported them is no longer active. The XD screens already in your library keep working, but they cannot be edited.
How do I change an XD screen? Capture a new screenshot of the screen, convert it into a Replica, and use Replace Html/Screenshot so the Lessons using it keep working.
Can you tell which screens are still drafts? Yes. Select the Drafts only checkbox to show only draft screens.
What file types can I upload? HTML captures and PNG or JPEG screenshots.
What happens if I upload a screen that already exists? Skyllful asks before doing anything. Choose Skip to leave the existing screen alone, Overwrite to replace it, or Create New to keep both.
What is the difference between Unused Screens and Inactive Versions Only? An unused screen has never been used in a Lesson. An inactive one was used before and is still attached to an older version of a Lesson, so it is part of that Lesson's history.
Why does a screen show under Pending Publish? Because it is in the latest version of a Lesson but not in the version Learners have. Publishing that Lesson moves the screen to Current Screens.
Is the Screen Library shared across Learning Programs? No. Each program has its own library.
Can I get an archived screen back myself? No. Ask your Local Administrator to open a support ticket with Skyllful.
