Translate in Bulk
Skyllful Studio's Translations Preferences let content teams bulk-translate all Module titles in a Course to a target language in one step using the built-in AI engine. A bulk translation review then flags any missing translations and offers a Fix button to bulk-fix titles across Programs, Assignments, Courses, and Modules.
What can be translated in bulk?
Titles, and only titles.
What |
Where it is done |
|---|---|
| Course title | The Course Actions menu, or the Translations screen with Learning Element set to Courses. |
| Module titles | The Course Actions menu translates all of them at once. A single Module title can also be done from the Module Actions menu. |
| Learning Program title | The ... menu in the Learning Program Settings header, using Translate Title. |
| Lesson content | Not in bulk. Lesson titles, descriptions, step text, prompts, and hints are translated field by field on the Translations screen. |
Note: A language has to be turned on for the Learning Program before it appears in any of these menus. Languages are enabled in Learning Program Settings, on the Language Settings tab.
How do you translate every Module title in a Course?
Step |
Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Learning Program, then open Courses. |
| 2 | In the Courses panel, find the Course you want. |
| 3 | Click the ... menu on that Course row. |
| 4 | Point to Translate. |
| 5 | Point to Module Titles, then choose the language. |
Skyllful translates every Module title in that Course for the language you chose.
Note: Only the languages enabled for the Learning Program appear at the end of that menu. English does not, because English is the source.
How do you translate a single title?
Item |
Path |
|---|---|
| One Course title | The Course ... menu, then Translate, then Course Title, then the language. |
| One Module title | The Module ... menu, then Translate, then Module Title, then the language. |
The Module ... menu offers only its own title. To reach the Modules inside a Course in one action, use Module Titles on the Course instead.
What does bulk translation replace?
Everything in its path. Bulk translation runs the moment you choose the language. There is no confirmation, no preview, and no undo, and it overwrites translations that are already there, including ones a person has written and reviewed.
Behavior |
What happens |
|---|---|
| Confirmation | None. Choosing the language runs the command. |
| Saving | Immediate. There is no Update step to walk back. |
| Existing translations | Replaced with the AI result. A reviewed translation is overwritten and comes back carrying an asterisk again. |
| Scope | Only the Course or Module you ran it from. Other Courses are untouched. |
Best practice: Run bulk translation early, while the titles are still untranslated, and treat it as a first pass. Once a translator has reviewed titles for a Course, work through the Translations screen instead, where you see each title before you touch it and one Update saves the set. Do not use the Actions menu to fill in a gap in a Course that has already been reviewed, because it will take the reviewed titles with it.
How do you review every title in one place?
The Translations screen gathers titles of the same kind, which is the practical way to work through a program and see what is still missing.
Step |
Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the language dropdown in the top bar and choose Review. |
| 2 | Choose the target language from Language. |
| 3 | Set Learning Element to Courses to list every Course title in the program, or Modules to list every Module title grouped under its Course. |
| 4 | To narrow the list to what still needs work, set Element Status, Filter By to Missing Translations. |
| 5 | Click the Translate button beside any title, or type the translation yourself. |
| 6 | Click Update once. It saves every title you changed on the screen. |
Note: This is the difference worth knowing. The Actions menu is one command that covers a set of titles, and it saves as soon as it runs. The Translations screen shows you the whole list, so you can see what is done, what is empty, and what is still carrying an asterisk. Bulk results carry the asterisk exactly like per-field results, so they show up under the Unreviewed filter and still need a person to read them.
Frequently asked questions
Can you translate all the Lesson titles in a Module at once?
No. There is no Lesson Titles option in the Actions menus. Lesson titles are translated on the Translations screen with Learning Element set to Lessons.
Does bulk translation cover Lesson content?
No. It covers titles. Step text, prompts, hints, and descriptions are field by field.
Which languages can you choose?
Only the ones enabled for that Learning Program. If a language is missing from the menu, it has not been turned on yet.
Does bulk translation overwrite a title someone already translated?
Yes. It replaces every title in its scope with a fresh AI translation, and the replacement carries an asterisk again, so reviewed work is both overwritten and marked unreviewed. There is no prompt and no undo.
What happened to Translations Preferences?
There is no menu by that name. The option is called Translate, and it sits second in the Course and Module Actions menus.
Where can you get help?
If you need help, start with your manager, then your Local Administrator. If additional assistance is needed, your Local Administrator can submit a support ticket to Skyllful.
