What the Lessons Dashboard Measures
The Lessons Dashboard measures one thing, incorrect actions, and lays it out step by step across every published Lesson in a Learning Program, so you can see which step is producing the errors rather than only which Lesson is going badly.
What does the Lessons Dashboard measure?
One thing: incorrect actions. Every time a Learner taps something other than the control a step asked for, that step records an incorrect action, and the dashboard adds them up.
That is a narrower measure than it first appears, and it is what makes the dashboard useful. It does not tell you whether Learners enjoyed a Lesson or finished it. It tells you where they tapped the wrong thing, step by step, across every published Lesson in the Learning Program. A step that produces a lot of incorrect actions is usually a step where the instruction, the screen, or the design is not doing its job.
Who uses it, and when?
Anyone responsible for the quality of the content: Content Developers, Instructional Designers, and the Administrators who own a Learning Program.
Use it once a Lesson has been live long enough to collect attempts. Before that there is nothing to read.
How do you open it?
In Skyllful Studio, open the Learning Program, then click Lessons Dashboard in Quick Links.
Note: The dashboard belongs to the Learning Program, not to an Assignment. It covers every published Lesson in the program, whoever is working through it and on whatever Assignment. If you see There are no published Lessons, the program has no published content yet.
What is on the screen?
A row of controls, then the grid.

| Total Incorrect | Every incorrect action recorded across all of that Lesson's steps. |
| Total Attempts | How many times the Lesson has been attempted. |
| Step 1 onward | One column per step, up to 30. Each cell is that step's result. |
Above the grid, View Lesson Data For, View By Mode, View As, Filter By and a search box control what the grid shows.
Note: Read Total Incorrect and Total Attempts together, never apart. Two hundred incorrect actions across four thousand attempts is a healthy Lesson that a lot of Learners use. The same two hundred across three hundred attempts is a Lesson in trouble.
What does a cell tell you?
Three possible states.

What do the colors mean?
The figure in each cell is colored by how bad it is.

| Yellow | Enough Learners are getting it wrong to be worth a look. |
| Red | A high proportion get it wrong. Start here. |
Note: On the Learning Program checked for this article, green ran from 0 to 3 percent, yellow appeared at 5 and 8 percent, and everything from 10 percent upward was red. Treat those as the shape of the scale rather than exact cut points, and scan for red rather than doing arithmetic.
How do you look at one step in detail?
Click See Heatmap inside the cell. That opens the Heatmap Viewer for that step, which shows where on the screen Learners actually tapped, so you can tell a confusing instruction from a hard-to-find control.
Every cell that has data carries its own See Heatmap link, so you go straight from a red figure to the reason behind it.
How do you look at one Lesson in detail?
Click the Lesson's name. That opens the Lesson Versions Dashboard for it, which breaks the same step data down by published version so you can see whether a change you made improved anything.
FAQ
The grid is empty and says there are no published Lessons. The dashboard only reports on published Lessons. Publish the content, wait for Learners to attempt it, then come back.
A Lesson has attempts but every step shows 0 Actions. Nobody has tapped the wrong thing. That is the result you want.
Why does one row stop at Step 6 and another run to Step 25? The grid gives every Lesson the same columns, and each Lesson only fills the steps it has. The dashes are padding, not missing data.
Why is a step red when only a handful of Learners attempted it? The color reflects the proportion, not the volume. Check Total Attempts on that row before you act on it.
Does this cover Learners on every Assignment? Yes. The dashboard belongs to the Learning Program and reports on the Lesson itself, so it includes every Learner who has attempted it.
Can I see this for one Assignment only? Use Filter By and choose the Assignment category.
