Enrollment Overview
Enrollment in Skyllful is how administrators connect learners to their assigned training, either by adding learners to an assignment manually or by letting them self-enroll through an Auto-Enrollment link or QR code that assigns one or more Assignments.
What are the two ways to enroll learners?
Skyllful gives you two enrollment methods, and you can use both in the same Learning Program.
| Enrollment method | How it works | Best when |
|---|---|---|
| Manual enrollment | You add specific Learners to an Assignment yourself, individually or in bulk. | You have a known, fixed group and want to control exactly who is enrolled. [LINK TO: Assignments] |
| Auto-Enrollment | You share a link or QR code, and Learners enroll themselves in the Assignments you attach to it. | You have a large, changing, or field-based audience, or you want ongoing self-service enrollment. [LINK TO: Auto-Enrollment: Quick Start] |
How do you decide which method to use?
Choose manual enrollment when the roster is small and stable and you want to place each Learner yourself. Choose Auto-Enrollment when the audience is large, distributed, or still growing, since a single link or QR code can reach unlimited Learners and stays active until you turn it off. Many programs use both: manual enrollment for a core group, and an Auto-Enrollment link for everyone who joins later.
What is Auto-Enrollment?
Auto-Enrollment lets Learners self-enroll through a custom URL or QR code that you create and distribute. It removes the need to import Learners into each Assignment by hand. One important point: Auto-Enrollment assigns training to Learners, but it does not create the Learners themselves. The people you are enrolling must already exist in Skyllful, unless your organization uses Auto-Provisioning with SSO authentication. To add Learners first, see [LINK TO: Add a User] and [LINK TO: Bulk Import and Export Users].
What can you set on an Auto-Enrollment link?
When you create an Auto-Enrollment link, you generate a link or QR code that assigns one or more Assignments to every Learner who uses it. You can also set these options:
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Assignments | Assign one or more Assignments to each Learner who enrolls through the link. |
| Tags | Add tags to enrollees for organization and reporting. |
| Supervisor / Manager | Set the supervisor or manager applied to each Learner who enrolls. |
| Expiration date | Set a date when the link stops enrolling new Learners. |
