Develop a Lesson in Practice Mode
Practice mode lets Learners attempt a workflow independently with limited hints, and this article shows Content Developers and Instructional Designers how to design it, adjust the mode and step settings, and preview it.
What is Practice mode for?
- It encourages Learners to apply what they have learned.
- It provides hints after incorrect attempts.
- It reinforces knowledge through guided repetition.
How do you create Practice mode?

| 1 | In the Lesson Builder, select Practice in the step filter (View Steps). |
| 2 | Adjust the Practice Lesson Mode Settings as needed. |
| 3 | Adjust individual steps in the Practice tab as needed. |
What settings can you adjust?
Practice Lesson Mode Settings (for the whole mode):
- Time to completion for the mode, about 50 to 75 percent of the video duration.
- Skills Covered.
- Overrides for Name, Title Override, Description Override, and the Module image.
Practice tab settings (for an individual step):
- Whether to include the step in the Lesson mode.
- Auto Scroll Control.
- The action the Learner must perform.
- Delay.
How do you preview Practice mode?
Use the preview mode to check that Practice mode is well designed.
- Test for adequate distractor click areas.
- Confirm that hints appear correctly after mistakes.
- Check that buttons, inputs, and scrolls are recognized correctly.

What if Practice mode does not work as expected?
Contact your Local Administrator first. If your Local Administrator cannot resolve the issue, submit a case through the Skyllful support portal.
