Develop a Lesson in Knowledge Check Mode
Knowledge Check mode lets Learners demonstrate full competency without assistance, and this article shows Content Developers and Instructional Designers how to create it, adjust the mode and step settings, and preview it.
What is Knowledge Check mode for?
- It measures Learner mastery through independent execution.
- It prevents progression until the previous modes are completed.
- It provides no hints or guidance.
How do you create Knowledge Check mode?

| 1 | In the Lesson Builder, select Knowledge Check in the step filter (View Steps). |
| 2 | Adjust the Knowledge Check Lesson Mode Settings as needed. |
| 3 | Adjust individual steps in the Knowledge Check tab as needed. |
What settings can you adjust?
Knowledge Check Lesson Mode Settings (for the whole mode):
- Time to completion for the mode, about 25 to 50 percent of the video duration.
- Skills Covered.
- Overrides for Name, Title Override, Description Override, and the Module image.
Knowledge Check tab settings (for an individual step):
- Whether to include the step in the Lesson mode.
- Auto Scroll Control.
- The action the Learner must perform.
- Delay.
How do you preview Knowledge Check mode?
Use the preview mode to check that Knowledge Check mode is well designed.
- Test for adequate distractor click areas.
- Make sure the buttons are mapped correctly.
- Make sure the inputs, scrolls, and taps work as expected.

What if Knowledge Check mode does not work as expected?
Contact your Local Administrator first. If your Local Administrator cannot resolve the issue, submit a case through the Skyllful support portal.
