Archive an Assignment

Skyllful has no Delete command for an Assignment: Administrators retire one by choosing Archive in the Assignment's overflow menu in Studio, which takes effect immediately with no confirmation and cannot be undone from Studio, so an Assignment that only needs to stop should have its availability end date changed instead.

When should you archive an Assignment?

Archive is how an Assignment is removed in Skyllful. There is no Delete command anywhere on an Assignment, and archiving is the only way to take one out of a Learning Program.

Reach for it in two situations:

  • The Assignment was a mistake. A duplicate created by a stray click, a test Assignment, something built in the wrong Learning Program.
  • The Assignment is finished and you do not want it in the way. Its training is done, its reporting has been read, and leaving it in the Assignments card only makes the real work harder to find.

Those are narrower cases than they look. An Assignment whose dates have passed has already stopped: Learners cannot reach it, and it sits quietly in the card holding its record. If the only thing you want is for people to stop working in it, change the dates rather than archiving it.

What happens when you archive one?

Archiving takes effect the moment you click it. Skyllful does not ask you to confirm, does not warn you, and gives you nothing to undo. The Assignment disappears from the Assignments card and Studio returns you to the Learning Program Overview.

After that:

  • The Assignment cannot be opened. Its address in Studio answers "You don't have access to this content".
  • Its Web Sim URL and App URL stop leading anywhere, so any link or QR code you handed out for it is dead.
  • Nothing in Studio brings it back.

Note: Treat archiving as permanent. If an Assignment was archived by mistake, your Local Administrator can raise a support ticket with Skyllful, but plan your work as though the decision is final rather than as though it can be reversed.

Where is the Archive command?

Open the Assignment, then click the overflow menu (...) at the top right of the screen, level with the Assignment name. Archive is the last command in the menu.

How do you archive an Assignment?

Step
Action
1 On the Learning Program Overview, open the Assignment from the Assignments card.
2 Check that the name at the top of the screen is the Assignment you mean to remove. This is the last point at which you can check anything.
3 Click the overflow menu (...) at the top right.
4 Choose Archive. The Assignment is archived immediately and you are returned to the Learning Program Overview.

Note: Step 2 is not padding. Copies are named after their originals with -copy on the end, so two Assignments in the same card can differ by one word, and there is no confirmation window to catch the wrong one.

What to do instead of archiving

If you want to
Do this instead
Stop Learners working in it now Change the Availability End Date to today. Learners lose access and the Assignment stays where you can still read its reporting.
Take one person out of it Remove that Learner from the Learners tab.
Keep the content but end the campaign Use Copy as Reference to stand the same Lessons up as reference material, then let the original run out.
Clear the card of finished work Archive, but read what you need from Skyllful IQ first.

FAQ

Where is the Delete button?

There is not one. Archive is how an Assignment is removed, and it is in the Assignment's overflow menu.

Does Skyllful ask me to confirm?

No. The Assignment is archived the moment you choose Archive.

Can I undo it?

Not in Studio. Your Local Administrator can raise a support ticket with Skyllful, so treat archiving as a decision you do not get to take back.

Can I still see the Assignment's results?

Read anything you need from Skyllful IQ before you archive. Once archived, the Assignment cannot be opened from Studio.

What if I only need it to stop?

Change the Availability End Date. That ends Learner access without removing the Assignment.

Do the Lessons get archived too?

No. Archiving an Assignment removes the Assignment. The Lessons belong to the Learning Program and stay where they are, ready for another Assignment.
