Set Default Prompt Style

A default prompt style sets one look for every prompt a Learner sees across a Learning Program, so new Lessons inherit it automatically, and Lessons you have already built can be updated a Course, a Module, or a Lesson at a time.

 What is a default prompt style?

  • The prompt style is the palette for what a Learner sees from Simulator while they work through a Lesson: the step instruction, the feedback in Practice, and the score at the end of a mode.
  • Set it once at the Learning Program level and every new Lesson in that program inherits it.
  • Lessons you have already built keep their current styling until you choose to update them, and you choose which ones.

Setting the default first is the difference between styling one panel and styling every Lesson by hand.

Where do you set the default prompt style?

1 Open the Learning Program in Skyllful Studio.
2 Click the gear icon at the top right to open Learning Program Settings. It opens on the Lesson Defaults tab.
3 Go to the Default Prompt Style section.
4 Choose a Spotlight Background: Light, Dark, or None.
5 To outline the area of interest, check Spotlight Outline, set the width in pixels, and choose the color.
6 Choose a Dialog Background: Light, Dark, or Custom.
7 If you chose Custom, set the five colors it exposes: Default Text, Secondary Button Label, Secondary Button Background, Primary Button Label, and Primary Button Background.
8 Click Update at the bottom of the tab to save.

 

Note: These are the same controls you meet on a step's General tab in Lesson Builder, with the same options. What you set here is the starting point every new Lesson inherits, and any step can still be styled individually afterward.

 

Note: If you have already styled a step the way you want the whole program to look, you do not have to rebuild it here. Click Copy Prompt Style on that step in Lesson Builder, then click Paste Prompt Style in this section.

How do you apply the default to Lessons you have already built?

Setting the default changes new content only. To update Lessons that already exist, use Apply to Existing Lessons, which lets you choose exactly which ones.

1 Set the default prompt style, then click Apply to Existing Lessons in the Default Prompt Style section. Select the Lessons to Apply the Prompt Styles To opens.
2 Find what you want to restyle. The list is the program's Courses, with their Modules and Lessons beneath them, and Filter By Lesson Title narrows it.
3 Select a Course to take everything inside it, a Module to take its Lessons, or individual Lessons. Selecting a Course or a Module selects everything beneath it, and a partly selected Course shows a half-filled marker.
4 Click Apply. Cancel closes the dialog without changing anything.

 

Note: Each section of the Lesson Defaults tab has its own Apply to Existing Lessons button, and each one applies only its own setting. Applying the prompt style does not touch the default voice over or the Talkthrough defaults.

 

Note: The Published column marks which Lessons are live, so you can see what you are about to restyle before you select it.

 

Note: Applying the default overwrites prompt styling already in place on the Lessons you select, including styling somebody chose deliberately. That is what the selection tree is for. Restyle the Course or the Module you mean rather than the whole program, and open a Lesson or two afterward to confirm nothing you wanted was lost.

What if the default does not reach existing Lessons?

Lessons you already built did not change Setting the default alone only affects new content. Use Apply to Existing Lessons and select them.
A Lesson you selected did not change Confirm it was selected when you clicked Apply. A Course or Module marker that is only half filled means some of what is inside it was not selected.
One step still looks different A step styled individually in Lesson Builder holds its own styling. Check that step's General tab.
The setting itself did not stick Check that you clicked Update at the bottom of the tab.
