Filter Your IQ Dashboard with Custom Views
By default the Skyllful IQ dashboard reports every Learner on the Assignment, and a Custom View narrows all three lenses to one segment such as a region, a manager's team or a job role, so this article covers how to build one, what you can filter on, and how to edit, copy or delete it.
Why would you create a Custom View?
The Skyllful IQ dashboard reports every Learner on the Assignment. If you are responsible for only part of that group, every figure you look at is diluted by Learners who are not yours. Readiness, Complete, and all five counters on the Overview lens describe the whole population rather than your part of it.
A Custom View filters the dashboard down to one segment, such as a single region, one manager's team, or every Learner in a job role. The filter applies across the whole dashboard, so the Overview, Curriculum and Learners lenses all report on that segment until you switch back.
Where do Custom Views live?
Custom Views sit in the view band, the strip that runs above the three lenses and stays in place whichever lens you are in.
The band shows the view you have applied as a tile carrying four things: the view name, how many Learners it covers, % Readiness and % Complete. Beside it is + Add New Custom View.
Every Assignment starts on a view named All Learners, which is the unfiltered dashboard.
How do you create a Custom View?

Note: Click Cancel instead of Apply and nothing is saved. Nothing you do in this panel changes the Assignment, the Learners in it, or anyone's training. A Custom View only changes what the dashboard reports back to you.
What can you filter on?
The builder offers six categories.

Each category starts at All, so a view filters only on the categories you change. Leave the rest alone and they place no restriction.
Note: These values come from the Learner records in your Learning Program. A category that nobody has filled in has nothing to offer, so if a filter looks empty or gives you fewer choices than you expected, check how those fields are populated on your Learners rather than assuming the filter is broken.
How do you switch between views?
Click the tile of the view you want in the view band. Every figure on the dashboard updates to match, and the change carries across all three lenses. Switching views does not change which Assignment you are looking at.
How do you edit, copy or delete a view?
Each view tile carries three controls.

Note: Deleting asks you to confirm, and the dialog is blunt about it: Warning, this can't be undone! There is no way to restore a deleted view, so use copy when you are experimenting and remove only when you are certain.
Best practice: Build one view carefully, then use copy to produce the rest. If you manage six warehouses, building the first view and copying it five times is faster than starting each one from scratch, and the names stay consistent.
What should you name a view?
The name is what you click to switch to it, so name it for the segment rather than for the filter you used. Nashville Dispatch and Warehouse Leads tell you what you are about to look at. Filter 2 does not.
Names can run to 100 characters, but short names read better in the view band. If you build views for several segments of the same kind, keep the naming pattern identical so they sort and scan together.
FAQ
Does a Custom View change what Learners see or do? No. It changes what the dashboard reports to you. Learners are unaffected.
Does the filter apply to all three lenses? Yes. Apply a view and the Overview, Curriculum and Learners lenses all report on that segment until you switch views.
Why does my Learner count drop when I apply a view? That is the view working. The count reports the Learners who match your filters rather than every Learner on the Assignment.
My filter has no options in it. Why? The values come from your Learner records. If nobody in the Learning Program has that field filled in, the filter has nothing to list.
Can I get back a view I deleted? No. The confirmation warns that deletion cannot be undone, and there is no restore.
Why do two views with the same name report different numbers? Custom Views belong to the Assignment they were built on. A view named the same thing on a different Assignment covers a different set of Learners.
Do I have to rebuild similar views one at a time? No. Use copy on a finished view and adjust the copy.
