Create a Scrolling Screen

Creating a scrolling screen on a Replica in Replica Maker lets a Learner scroll through content during a Lesson, and this article shows Content Developers and Instructional Designers how to build one, plus best practices and troubleshooting.

Before you begin

You add each segment of the scrolling screen as a cropped screen image. Download the screens you want to add to your computer and crop them before you start.

How do you build a scrolling screen?

Step Action
1 In Replica Maker, select the Button Add tool.
2 Drag over the portion of the screen you want to scroll.
3 Select [Create Group].
4 Check [Is Scrollable].
5 Select [Edit Contents].
Insert image here: s2_0X_img01_scroll-group.png — Replica Maker with a scroll group selected, Is Scrollable checked, and Edit Contents available; highlight the scroll group, the Is Scrollable checkbox, and the Edit Contents and Append controls. Alt: A scroll group in Replica Maker with the Is Scrollable checkbox selected.
6 Add the next segment of your scrolling screen in any direction. Add any element that should be part of the scroll group here.
7 Align the new segment with your screen.
8 Select [Append].
9 Add elements to the scrolling space, such as buttons, by clicking and dragging on the screen.

What are the best practices?

  • Capture more screenshots than you think you need so you can stitch them together properly.
  • Add all scrolling screen elements, such as buttons, inside the scroll group, not on the main screen.

How do you troubleshoot scrolling problems?

Issue Quick fix
You cannot add content to a scrollable frame You cannot drag and drop or copy and paste into a scrollable frame. Add content using Edit Contents and Append instead.
Elements appear in odd places on the screen The elements may be outside the scroll group. Add them inside the scroll group.

What if the scrolling screen does not work?

Contact your Local Administrator first. If your Local Administrator cannot resolve the issue, submit a case through the Skyllful support portal.
