Copy an Assignment
Administrators copy an Assignment in Skyllful Studio when the same training has to run again, choosing Copy to keep the original's Assignment Type or Copy as Reference to turn the duplicate into a Reference Assignment, and the copy arrives with the Lessons but with no Learners, no availability dates, and its own links.
Why would you copy an Assignment?
An Assignment carries a lot of decisions: which Lessons belong in it, which modes each Lesson offers, which devices it opens on, and how long people are expected to take. Copying keeps that setup and gives you a separate Assignment to run, so the original keeps reporting on its own group while the copy reports on its own.
That fits four situations in particular:
- The next wave or cohort. The same onboarding runs again for the people starting next month, on their own dates.
- The same training for a second audience. Another region, site, or shift gets what the first one got, and its progress reports separately rather than blending into one number.
- Something that comes back around. Annual compliance, a seasonal push, a quarterly refresher.
- Content that outlives its rollout. The campaign ends, but people still need to look things up. That is what the second kind of copy is for.
What are the two kinds of copy?

Copy as Reference is the one worth knowing about, because it changes what the Assignment is for. A Campaign or New Hire Assignment is built around a schedule, and Skyllful IQ reports on whether Learners are keeping pace with it. A Reference Assignment has no schedule: Learners open it when they need an answer, and IQ reports what was viewed rather than who is behind.
So when a rollout ends and the content still has a life, copy it as Reference instead of rebuilding it. The duplicate arrives with the Reference type already set, which is also why its Duration and IQ Settings tabs are inactive. There is no pace left to measure.
Where is the copy command?
Open the Assignment, then click the overflow menu (...) at the top right of the screen, level with the Assignment name. Both Copy and Copy as Reference sit in that menu.
How do you copy an Assignment?

Note: Copy acts the moment you click it. There is no naming window and no confirmation, and clicking twice leaves you with two copies. The copy is created in the same Learning Program as the original.

Note: The empty dates are the part worth remembering. A copy is not a working Assignment until you set its availability dates, and until you do, no Learner can reach it no matter what else is in place. Set the dates and the title in the same pass, while you still remember which copy is which.
Note: Learners do not come across, which is usually what you want. A copy is normally for the next group, so it arrives empty and you add the people it is for on the Learners tab.

FAQ
Does copying ask me to confirm?
No. The copy is made as soon as you choose the command.
What is the copy called?
The original name with -copy on the end. Rename it before anyone else sees it in the Assignments card, because two Assignments whose names differ by one word are easy to mix up.
Why does my copy have no dates?
Availability dates are not carried over. Open the copy and set the Availability Start Date and Availability End Date.
Can I copy a Reference Assignment?
Yes. Copy keeps whatever type the original has, so a Reference Assignment copies as a Reference Assignment.
Does the copy share the original's links?
No. The copy gets its own Web Sim URL and App URL. Links you shared earlier still open the original.
Do the Learners come across?
No. A copy starts with no Learners. Add them on the Learners tab of the copy, which is usually the point: the copy exists because a different group needs the same training.
Will the copy's results mix with the original's?
No. A copy is a separate Assignment, so Skyllful IQ reports on it separately from the Assignment it came from.
