Use Comments and Notifications in Studio
Feedback in Skyllful Studio attaches to the Lesson step it belongs to, and notifications tell you when something happens on work you follow.
Where does a comment live?
A comment belongs to a Lesson step, not to the Lesson as a whole. You open a step's comments from the step itself in the Lesson Builder, and everything anyone has said about that step stays in one thread.
That thread is also where the step's approval history appears, so one place tells you what people said and what was decided.
How do you comment on a step?
Step |
Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Lesson in the Lesson Builder. |
| 2 | Find the step. To the left of the step's card, under the step number, is a short column of icons. |
| 3 | Click the comment icon, the first icon in that column. The Comments panel opens on the step. |
| 4 | Type in the box at the bottom of the panel. |
| 5 | Click Send. |
Note: Send stays greyed out until you type something, so a stray click cannot post an empty comment.
What is in the Comments panel?
Item |
What it is |
|---|---|
| The thread | Every entry on this step, each showing who wrote it and the date and time. |
| The ... menu on an entry | The actions available on that individual entry. |
| The text box | Where you write a new comment. |
| Completed | Marks a comment as handled, so a reader can tell what has been dealt with. |
| Send | Posts the comment. Disabled until the box has text. |
| X | Closes the panel. The thread stays on the step. |
Why do approvals appear in the comment thread?
Because approving a step is part of the conversation about it. When someone approves or unapproves a step, the thread records it the same way it records a comment, with the person's name and the time.
A reviewer reading one step's thread therefore sees the feedback and the decisions together, in order, rather than having to reconcile two separate histories.
Where do notifications appear?
In the Notifications panel. The bell sits in the top bar on the right, between the settings gear and the help icon. Click it to open the panel.
Item |
What it does |
|---|---|
| The list | Shows activity on the Courses, Modules, and Lessons you follow. |
| Mark All As Read | Clears the unread state on everything in the list at once. |
| No Notifications Yet | The empty state. Nothing has happened on anything you follow. |
How do you follow or unfollow?
Following a Course, Module, or Lesson is what puts its activity in your Notifications panel.
Step |
Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Go to the Courses Overview for the Learning Program. |
| 2 | Find the Course, Module, or Lesson in its panel. |
| 3 | Click the ... button on the row to open its Actions menu. |
| 4 | Choose Follow to start receiving its activity, or Unfollow to stop. |
Note: Follow and Unfollow are two separate entries in the menu, and both are always listed. Choosing Follow on something you already follow changes nothing.
Frequently asked questions
Can you comment on a Lesson as a whole rather than a step?
No. Comments attach to a step. Feedback about the Lesson overall belongs on the step it concerns, or in whatever your team uses to track Lesson-level review.
What does Completed do to a comment?
It marks the comment as handled. The entry stays in the thread; nothing is deleted.
Why is the Send button greyed out?
There is no text in the box yet. Type a comment and it becomes available.
You followed something but your Notifications panel is empty.
Nothing has happened on it yet. The panel fills as people comment on, approve, or change the Courses, Modules, and Lessons you follow.
